Why Choose OLED Screens for your Home Theatre System?

Monday, September 22nd, 2014

A home theatre isn’t just a room, or pieces of video equipment. It’s part of a commitment to and love of great cinema, a desire to capture and recreate the utterly unique experience of movie-going. If you’re a movie enthusiast with a home theater, or plan on buying one and want to be on the forefront of cutting-edge visual technology, there is only one option out there that supersedes everything in terms of visual fidelity, color quality, and features: An OLED Screen.OLED screens

OLED, which stands for Organic Light Emitting Diodes, uses an organic carbon substance that reacts when an electric current passes through it. This revolutionary new display technology has recently been applied to televisions with staggeringly beautiful results, bringing together the benefits of LED and plasma screens while leaving their individual detriments behind.

Picture Perfect

OLED screens have the fastest response rate of any display device on the market thanks in large part to TFT Active Matrix technology which allows the tightest degree of pixel control, completely eliminating motion lag and blur, and resulting in the most responsive displays ever created.

Tired of having to limit your seating options because of bad viewing angles? OLED screens are virtually bad angle-proof. Because OLED TVs have emissive pixels that create light rather than block it, as many traditional TVs do, every pixel is lit independently so that any viewer, looking from any angle will see the same, perfect picture and colors. These same pixels allow OLED screens to create truer blacks with a much higher contrast ratio than LCD displays.

Sleeker Than Ever

OLEDs have also allowed engineers to craft screens that are incredibly lightweight and thinner than anything ever seen before. Because OLEDs produce their own backlighting, there is no need for the bulky fluorescent lighting chambers of LCD, or even the already very thin layer of diodes found in traditional LED screens. OLEDs are without a doubt the lightest, most flexible form of display available on the market.

Energy Saving

Because OLED screens do not require any additional backlighting, they are much more energy efficient than any other kind of screen, requiring as little as 40% of the power of traditional screens to produce images of superior quality. OLED screens are also capable of running at the high resolutions technology connoisseurs have come to expect and are available as 3D TVs and Smart TVs.

Because OLED screens are a relatively new invention, they are not cheap. However, as demand rises for these luxurious screens, the manufacturing process has seen dramatic improvements and prices have dropped sharply over short time they’ve been available.

Choose the movie, pause it when you want to, and relax. If you don’t have a personal home theatre system yet, the first thing that you need to do is find a professional theatre installation company that will work with you to figure out how to set up your perfect home theatre system. Wondering why you need a professional to help you set up a home theatre system? Keep reading!

Perks to Professional Home Theatre Setup

  • Installation can get complicated – Figuring out which wire goes where and how you’re possibly going to hang that rear speaker from the ceiling can make installing a home theatre system an infuriating process. Having a professional do the installation will ensure that everything gets installed properly and in the most practical way possible so that everything works well together and is in a good spot.
  • Learn about more products – You may have an idea of products that you want installed, but you may not know all of your options. You wouldn’t have a home built without first consulting someone and hearing all of your options. Your home theatre system should stay with you for a long time. You want to make sure that you’ve got the right components and that you know all of the different options for your home theatre system. Get something you really like the first time around, that way you only have to upgrade a little at a time later on.
  • Professional level sound and audio – Hooking up a cord to the back of a TV or sound system is pretty easy to do. Knowing which cord will work the best for which connections and various brands is another story. Technology has come a long way in the past few years. To get a system that is up to date and professional, you should have a professional suggest the best options. They’ll be able to customize your home theatre system so it is optimized for you and your home.

Planning Your Maryland Home Theatre System

Friday, September 12th, 2014

home theatre installationDo you know that feeling that you get when you walk into a movie theatre? A little bit of excitement – those little butterflies in your stomach. You spend some time choosing that perfect seat in the theatre that doesn’t require you to strain your neck before getting comfortable with your $12.00 popcorn bucket. You may have to deal with screaming children and that person who won’t stop kicking your seat, but at least you get the full immersion experience of sound and picture. The beauty of a home theatre system is that you still get to completely immerse yourself in a movie without worrying about all of the outside stimuli. You can always find the perfect spot in the theatre and your popcorn will probably only cost you about 50 cents. Not sold yet? Let’s talk about planning your Maryland home theatre system so that you can see even more of the perks of having a theatre in your home!

What are the Components of a Home Theatre System?

Surround sound – One of the things that makes a home theatre system better than just watching a movie on the TV in your living room is the sound quality difference. When you’re setting up your home theatre system, you want to make sure that you’re getting quality surround sound. It helps to bring the movie experience into your home theatre. Choosing your surround sound will take a little bit of thought and research, so make sure to read up on the different systems available for your home theatre. You’ll need at least 4 speakers to get the full experience.

Stellar image – To feel like you’re really at the movie theatre, you’re going to want a big picture. Experts suggest that you have a screen that is at least 27 inches from corner to corner, though we’ll always encourage you to go a little bit bigger. There is a large range of screens for you to choose from, including plasma, LED, and even projectors. Each one operates a little bit differently and presents its own list of pros and cons, but you can check out more about some of your options here and here.

Accessories – This covers all manner of the extra things that you’ll need for your Maryland home theatre system. First and foremost, you’ll need something to play movies on. Certain gaming consoles work for it, but you could also buy a Blu-Ray or DVD player to get better quality. Many people prefer to have gaming consoles for their home theatre systems as well because having the big picture and sound makes gaming even more fun. Smart remotes are making it even easier to control your home theatre system as well as the ambiance in the room; you can even dim the lights from your seat!

Your Maryland Home Theatre Experts Explain: Surround Sound

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014

surround soundPeople have been going to the movies for decades. In fact, the first industry to really boast air conditioning was the movie theatre industry. People enjoyed spending hot afternoons in a cool, dark movie theatre, enjoying entertainment and a great atmosphere. Not much has changed about the reasons that we love movies, but the way that we enjoy them definitely has. Surround sound and crystal clear images have made movie going into an art. Better yet, we’ve brought both of those things into home theatre. Surround sound is one of the biggest innovations in the way that we experience movies and sound in general. Let’s find out a little bit more about how it works!

What is Surround Sound?

When movie theatres were originally started using sound, they used monaural sound – sound that is recorded with one microphone and comes out of all speakers. This is the simplest type of sound. Multi-channel sound has been used for much longer. It allows listeners to hear sound coming from at least two different spots, mimicking the way that humans actually hear things when they’re present in a situation. Surround sound picks up sound in three or more different directions so that you get the full experience of being present in the movie, TV show, or video game. It gives the listener a completely immersive experience.

Today, surround sound recording is an art form requiring finesse. In order for surround sound to work, you need speakers that have what’s called a “surround sound decoder.” What this does is pull the different sound from the different channels and push it out to the proper speakers. This is why it’s so important that your surround sound speakers are installed properly. For example, if a car in a movie is zooming by from left to right, you want the music coming out of your speakers from left to right to feel like the car actually just drove by you. Through the use of front, rear, and now overhead speakers, you can essentially drop yourself in any movie that’s equipped for surround sound. The experts at Dolby have been working on improving surround sound since its inception and are still the leaders in sound innovation.

Professional Surround Sound Installation

Surround sound installation takes a lot of focus, patience, and skill. If you have limited experience in working with speakers or electronics, it’s best to bring in a professional who can help you optimize the sound in your Maryland home theatre!
